Byrån för Glömda Saker

The bureau of Forgotten Things

About the Byrå

“Children have the right to give opinions freely on issues that affect them.”

UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 13

The Byrå för Glömda Saker / Bureau of Forgotten Things is a child culture design studio working to elevate children’s perspectives through play, imagination and storytelling. We work with cultural institutions, public spaces, and municipalities to lead workshops and processes where children can take the lead.

As a design practice, we start by exploring what is already there – the layers of stories, histories, structures and nature.

About the Byråminister

A designer for museums, theaters and public space, Betty Wallingford graduated with an MFA in Child Culture Design from HDK-Valand in 2022. Before coming to Sweden, she worked as a museum researcher and exhibit designer in the United States, including the New York Hall of Science, where she worked on several projects around children’s play and storytelling in museums. When not working with the Byrå, Betty is a prop designer and scenographer for theaters in Sweden. She holds a bachelors degree in Anthropology from Wellesley College.
