The Research Station

Lilla Änggården - Spring, 2022

The Research Station at Lilla Änggården’s English Park is a frame structure where children can investigate, play, and make their own mark. The design was inspired by a series of workshops held in Lilla Änggården and by the tradition of kojas already present in the surrounding forest.

How can design strengthen the relationship between children’s imagination and cultural heritage?

The Research Station (and the Byrå för Glömda Saker as a whole) does not attempt to replace or improve any existing children’s play culture. Lilla Änggården is a heritage space, yet it is also public space. The Research Station is a place for children to collect forgotten things, piece together stories from the past, and share these stories with children in the future. Above all, the research station is a place for play and for imagination.
